Scope, Activities and Summary Results

Scope:

  • Enhance knowledge and awareness on COVID-19 management for selected communities;  
  • Provide necessary IEC materials for individual, families & communities that will ensure practices on a regular basis and project banner will expedite the same messages on that issue;
  • Provide necessary materials i.e., soap, surgical mask, hand gloves and other materials support to members of the community for promoting BCC/behavioral practices on COVID-19 at maximum level;
  • Install/construct handwashing stations with running water and drainage facilities in five unions where people can use these services to prevent the COVID-19 virus affect.  

 

Activities:

 

  • Training on COVID-19 management to community volunteers: A total of 5 community volunteers and 1 coordinator received necessary training on key issues 
  • Developing, printing and distribution of IEC materials and banners: IEC materials i.e. awareness stickers and leaflets were printed Some 20,000 awareness leaflets, 2,600 stickers, 5,000 booklets, 140 flash cards and 140 flip charts were distributed, 50 awareness banners were displayed in the project area. 
  • Awareness session on COVID-19: HYSAWA reached a total of 22,441 (Male – 7,235 and Female – 15,206) community people and students via 2,319 hygiene sessions at both community and school-level (Courtyard session – 2,253 and classroom-based session – 66 in 25 selected schools) during the project period surpassing the intervention target. 
  • Distribution of hygiene materials in selected schools at 26 Schools 
  • Campaign and awareness building through social, electronic and print media: 
  • Construction of handwashing stations with running water and drainage facility: 5 handwashing stations were constructed at the project locations. The handwashing stations are currently full functioning. 

 

Summary results:

 

  • Development and printing of COVID related IEC/BCC materials
  • About 20,000 people received COVD awareness messages 
  • Five handwashing stations constructed at public places
