Scope, Activities and Summary Results

Scope:
- To reduce the percentage of population without sustainable access to safe water supply and basic sanitation services and increase percentage of people exhibiting improved hygiene behavior in hard-to-reach areas; and
- To strengthen Local governments’ capacities for citizen-oriented public service delivery, including water supply, sanitation and hygiene.

Activities:
Hygiene sessions on different issues were organized and conducted at both CDF and school level (Total five schools including schools that are selected for latrine construction). Total population of 10 CDFs were 589 (female 314) and total students of five schools were 814 (girls’ student 427). All most all the target population somehow attended in different sessions. Total numbers of hygiene sessions were:
- 110 Hand washing session particularly for school students, children and mothers; Participants in these sessions were 1226 (Male: 582 & Female: 644).
- 58 Menstrual hygiene education sessions were conducted for girls and mothers. Total participants of these sessions were 245.
- 35 HH latrines were renovated and improved to hygienic condition.
- 48 sessions were conducted on Water Safely Plan (WSP) especially for caretakers at CDF level and total participants were 530 of which 314 female.
- 47 Personal hygiene sessions were conducted for students at school and the total participants were 710 of which girls were 378.
- 21 Food hygiene sessions were conducted at CDF level and total attendance were 112.
- 42 School cleaning sessions were organized for school students and the participants were 710.
- Relevant BCC materials were distributed at school level during conduction of hygiene education session.

Summary results:
With this assignment, HYSAWA was able to reach about 1300 people with safe water supply, hygiene knowledge and sanitation facilities in a hard-to-reach location. Two school latrines were built with running water facilities. Additionally, 10 rainwater harvesting systems were constructed in demanding locations.
