Scope, Activities and Summary Results

Scope:

  • To contribute to national effort to achieve SDG on Climate change, Water and Sanitation.
  • To establish and finance sustainable mechanisms at the local government level that provides vulnerable communities with adaptation capacity including access to climate resilient water and sanitation facilities.
  •  

Activities:

  • Identified proven and suitable technology for water sources which could not affect by sea water upsurge, flood for ensuring safe water for installation of deep tube wells;  
  • Identified proven and suitable technology for sanitation (latrine) which could not affect by flood, sea water upsurge or any other typical disaster; 
  • Facilitated to drawing map(s) in showing different required information that could aware them on climate change adaptation; 
  • Motivated communities for plantation for balancing the environmental issues; 
  • Motivated communities to use upgraded cook for protecting the more carbon; 
  • Training for local government functionaries (particularly to UPs), Training for community organizers (COs) engaged to provide WASH services to HHs level and Communities
  • Performed situation analysis and need assessment and established baseline using PRA methods and tools;
  • Facilitated series of awareness sessions using proven IEC/BCC materials, demonstration,
  • Upgraded water points in community selected demanding and prioritized sites,
  • Upgraded latrine in consultation with school management committees (SMCs) and public latrines in consultation with concerned UPs;

Summary results:

  • Working in 30 Union Parishads, installed 300 water points and 1500 Household/ Public/Institutional latrines based on community demands
  • Formal training to 600 Local Government functionaries
  • Hygiene and sanitation promotion for 150,000 people including school children
